Many faces of Eustace Tilley

The Eustace Tilley Contest deadline is January 24!

Eustace Tilley was drawn by Rea Irvin, the magazine’s first art editor, for the cover of the first issue of The New Yorker, in 1925, and has returned for nearly every anniversary issue since. (Louis Menand gives a detailed history of Tilley.) Since 1994, the magazine has invited contributing artists to reinterpret this iconic dandy. A selection of these visual riffs appears here, along with an invitation to enter the Eustace Tilley Contest; rules appear below. Our favorite submissions will be featured on newyorker.com along with this year’s anniversary issue.

Bão, resolvi entrar na contenda da The New Yorker e estou a finalizar cinco desenhos do Eustace Tilley. Amanhã deverei postar.
